Handbook of Life

My husband is my greatest cheerleader who keeps me in mind when he comes across information that may be relative to my works. He sent this to me; author unknown. I’d like to share it with you.

In our quest for health we often overlook laws of Nature designed to protect us. In the “whole”istic world lifestyle behaviors are the building blocks to more deep and satisfying lives. We have the power to change course at anytime; take responsibility, formulate a strategy and take action.

These tips could change your life forever.

Health

1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less that is manufactured in plants. YES!
4. Live with three (3) E's: Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.
5. Make time to pray.
6. Play more games
7. Read more books than you did last year.
8. Sit in silence at least 10 minutes a day.
10.
Sleep 7 hours daily. Take a daily 10-30 minute walk, and while you walk, smile.

Personality

11. Do not compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is about.
12. Do not have negative thoughts about things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy positively in the present, influencing things you can control.
13. Do everything in moderation. Temperance is the virtue that guarantees the most pleasure from pleasurable things.
14. Do not take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Do not waste energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake.
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
18. Forget issues of the past. Do not remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. It ruins present happiness.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Do not hate others.
20. Make peace with your past so it will not spoil the present.
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
22. Realize that life is a school and you are the student. Problems are part of the curriculum that appear and fade like algebra class but the lessons you learn last a lifetime.
23. Smile and laugh more.
24. You do not have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Society

25. Call your family often.
26. Do something good to others daily.
27. Forgive everyone for everything.
28. Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.
29. Make at least three people smile daily.
30. What other people think of you is none of your business.
31. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Life

32. Do the right thing even when it costs more than you want to pay!
33. Get rid of things that are not useful, beautiful or joyful.
34. Remember, GOD heals everything.
35. However good or bad a situation is it will change.
36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
37. The best is yet to come.
38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.
39. Be happy. NEWS FLASH - If you are reading this you are doing better than 95% of humanity.

Every day above ground is a great day! If you don’t think so, try the dirt nap.

Say NO to Drugs

I’m not the only voice shouting, “decrease the use of drugs”. The Center for Patient Safety Research and Practice at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital says doctors need to give more consideration to non-drug alternatives. “Instead of the latest and greatest, we want fewer and more time-tested drugs,” said Dr. Gordon Schiff, associate director of the Center.

Fat chance this is going to happen on a large scale, but finally we are hearing it from medical outlets. You don’t need to be an expert to recognize that overprescribing is rampant. The reasons include incentives to doctors from big pharma, relative safety from law suits and little to no fraternal correction from colleagues.

Drugs only treat symptoms, doing nothing to address the cause of a condition or disease. Even the Archives of Internal Medicine urges doctors to be more cautious and conservative when prescribing drugs.

There is great truth to the saying, “drugs beget drugs”. Avoid them at unless you are faced with a life or death situation.

Keeping you “in the know”

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) Causes Obesity

I have discussed this toxic food ingredient in the past and the more research conducted the worse it gets.

In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists found that rats injected with MSG became morbidly obese. MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates causing rats and maybe humans to become obese. Could this be the contributing factor to the high rates of Diabetes?

Why is MSG linked to obesity? Like artificial sweeteners, MSG is an excitotoxin, a substance that over-excites neurons to the point of cell damage and potential death. Russell L. Blaylock, MD details the dangers of this substance in his book Excitotoxins. Based on animal studies, MSG creates lesions in the hypothalamus (the part of the brain that controls hunger, thirst, sleep and body temperature) that correlates with obesity, abnormal development and reproductive problems.

Blaylock points out, “One can only wonder if the large number of people having difficulty with obesity in the United States is related to early exposure of food additive excitotoxins, since this obesity is one of the most consistent features of the syndrome. One characteristic of the obesity induced by excitotoxins is that it doesn’t appear to depend on food intake. This could explain why some people cannot diet away their obesity.”

You may believe you don’t consume MSG, but don’t mistake belief for reality. MSG is in canned soups, chips, most boxed products, frozen prepared meals, and salad dressings, especially the low-fat ones. All foods like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, Taco Bell and KFC enhance their foods with MSG.

Companies that manufacture MSG admit that it addicts people to their products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes them eat more. Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is addictive.

I’m the messenger; don’t shoot me. Now that you are “in the know” you can make better decisions.

Eat well!
