Patients
need full disclosure
An article
out of Washington (AP) , January 10, 2000 revealed the state of healthcare
spending in this country. Outrageous, to say the least, the costs for
prescription drugs is moving at mach speed. Total healthcare spending
rose 5.6 percent in 1998, compared with 4.7 percent in 1997. The stats
are not out for 1999 yet.
Katharine Levit, one of the report’s authors says, "This is
signaling some changes that appear to be imminent". What that means,
no one knows for sure, however, it raises the question as to why medicine
is vehemently opposed to prevention, self-care, and natural approaches
to medicine.
As a result of all this spending and supposedly dynamic and designer drugs,
deaths in hospitals continue to rise, more drugs are recalled off the
market shelves, quality has gone the way of the ink quill and more consumers
are becoming addicted/dependent on drugs.
There have been none if few documented cases of self-care, use of supplements
and herbs, and natural approaches to treat disease and illness that have
caused the consumer to face death, addictions or financial disaster.
It is more important today than ever before to seek out a practitioner
who is willing to work with you as an informed consumer, be aware of your
individual needs and who draws together all the world’s healing
resources to formulate an effective and life-giving plan for health.
Take charge, or you will be in for the wildest ride of your life…that’s
if you survive!!
