Grass IS Greener…

So you think cows who eat grain and corn are the best? Think again. Cows that graze on grass ONLY offer better nutrition. Beef and milk products from grass-fed cattle have higher levels of vitamin E, C, beta carotene, A-linolenic acid (ALA), which converts into EPA and DHA, the two types of omega-3 fatty acids that are most readily used by the body and Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a fatty acid. Numerous studies have shown significant health benefits to CLA, which include a decrease in heart disease, cancers and diabetes. These meats contain more brain and heart boosting omega-3 fatty acids, and are leaner, thus contain fewer calories naturally.

It may be difficult to find 100% grass fed beef and products in your local grocer despite the growing demand unless you ask your grocers to purchase it for you. Note a few words of caution. If the label reads Natural Beef, this does not mean grass-fed. It must say 100% grass-fed on the label, meaning no grains or any type of corn has been used at any time in the feeding cycle.

Visit www.eatwild.com or http://www.grasslandbeef.com/index.html or http://www.peacefulpastures.com/grassfed-meats.html to learn more about grass fed beef.

Go ahead, do yourself a favor and indulge in healthy eating. It’s your best defense against illness and disease.
